What a kitchen needs

• A dedicated circuit for the oven and hob, sized to the appliance
• Enough socket circuits for the appliances, not one ring stretched across everything
• Isolation for integrated appliances you can actually reach
• Island power, run safely under the floor
• Under cabinet, plinth and pendant lighting on the right switching
• Extractor supply and, where needed, a boiling water tap circuit
• Testing and certification on completion

Timed around the fitter

Kitchen electrics happen in two visits. First fix goes in once the old kitchen is out and before the plastering and flooring. Second fix happens after the units are in and the worktops are on.

We speak to your kitchen fitter directly so the two visits land in the right place in their programme.

Check the board first

Modern kitchens often need more circuits than an older board has spare ways for. We check the consumer unit at the quote stage, so an upgrade is priced in from the start instead of appearing halfway through.

Not always, but it is common. It depends on how many spare ways the board has and whether it has the right protection. We check before we quote.

Can you work with my kitchen company?

Yes. We deal with the fitter directly and book our visits around theirs.

Do you fit the appliances?

We wire and connect the fixed appliances such as ovens, hobs and extractors. The kitchen fitter installs the units themselves.

Will I get certification?

Yes. Kitchen work is notifiable and we are NAPIT registered, so you get the certificate and the notification.
